Introduction:

Where? : From Poipu main traffic circle take Poipu road east for 1.1 miles and turn right into Hoowili Rd.

What? : A beautiful beach on the south shore of Kauai.

When? : year round

Due note: Try to come early, mid-day it is difficult to find parking spot. This is a clouded beach.

My thoughts: We enjoy spending half a day at this beach, snorkeling and having fun, there are picnic tables and shade under the trees.

The visit:

Once toy reaching Hoowili Rd. look for a parking spot on the 2 main parking lots on both sides of the road or turn left on Hoone Rd and looks there for side road parking.

This is a big and popular beach park.

There are 3 sandy sections along the shoreline, and all are connected by the large grassy areas with trees shaded picnic tables.

The bay in the middle is considered kid-friendly with less waves coming in.

This is excellent place for boogie boarding or to do simple snorkeling in the protected bay.

Nice nearby places to see:

Tree Tunnel: Located on the north section of hwy 520 just before it connects to hwy 50.

Spouting Horn Park: Where wave get into blowhole spouting water high in the air accompanied by a moaning sound.
Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail: Coastal hiking trail with nice beaches, some historical sites and rock formations.
