Introduction:

What? :

Hope Valley is a prime location for winter snowmobile activities, with the Hope Valley Snow-Park serving as a key trailhead for guided tours and self-guided trips.

We did not want to rent a snowmobile so the easiest and safest way to enjoy this winter snowmobile activity in Hope Valley is by joining a guided tour.

Many companies offer tours that include equipment, guides, and transportation from their base operations office to the Hope Valley Snow-Park trailhead.

We did it with Lake Tahoe Adventures and we were very pleased with the tour, from registration at the office, bus to Hope Valley and the trip itself.

We took a 2-hour ride tour through Hope Valley.

The tour was ideal for beginner to intermediate riders as we were, providing a balance of scenic drives and fun, thrilling snowmobile riding.

The tour is organize in such a way that even beginners learn how to operate the snowmobile and get some confidence.

After a short “driving adjustment” section following the main road entering the forest the ride breaks off into small singletrack trails that are more challenging. Here you will have a lot of fun following the trails made by the snowmobile in front of you.

The tour guides are knowledgeable and take safety seriously, follow their guides and instructions.

If you are coming as one large group the guides adopt the rides and the distance to the group level.

Where:

The Hope Valley Trailhead and Snow-Park is located on Blue Lakes Road, just off CA-88.

If you are taking an organized tour check with your tour provider on the exact meetup location.

Due note 1:

It is highly recommended to book guided tours and rentals in advance, especially during peak season.

Due note 2:

Be sure to follow all safety guidelines provided by the tour operators and be aware of other trail users.

Due note 3:

At peak winter season and especially during weekends it is a very busy area with many tours going on at the same time so this is not a “wilderness” experience but still we had a lot of fun on the snow during our tour.

Due note 4:

Snowmobiling is a weather-dependent activity, so always check the latest snow conditions and availability before your trip.

Due note 5:

Even for the 2 hours ride plan for a half day activity, you need to come to the office, register and there is a bus ride that will take you to Hope Valley Snowmobile Park. and after the tour there is the ride back.

Due note 6:

Restrooms are available at the staging area.

Due note 7:

For exact tours options and rates contact the companies that provide such activity.

During our stay at South Lake Tahoe we saw a large Black Bear
