Washington Square is an open city park in the North Beach district of San Francisco. The park (established in 1847) is located on Columbus Ave., and you can find here and in nearby streets many cafes and restaurants.

This park is popular gathering place for local residence, enjoying the open grassland garden in warm summer days (when there is no fog 😊) and the many nearby cafe’s places.

The large and impressive Peter and Paul Church (built in 1924) is located on the north side of the park.

At park northwest corner you can see the monument to San Francisco firefighters, this is contribution of Lillie Hitchcock Coit that also contribute Coit Tower to the city.

This park is between Chinatown and Italy area in the south to Fisherman Wharf and the piers at the north, a perfect location to rest when walking across the city.

From the park you can climb up the steep hill to the nearby Coit tower.
