Google Map Link

What? : Moon like landscape of many large standing white rock formation in the middle of the flat dry desert lakebed.

When? : Not recommended at the hot summer days

Due note: The dirt road is accessible to all vehicles, make sure this is not right after major rain event. Pass the train track only on official crossing!

My thoughts: When I saw night pictures from this location, I told myself that I must visit here. Was here only one time but I definitely go back and spend the night over here.

The visit:

Interesting space/moon like landscape of many large standing white rock formation in the middle of the desert.

Not visit by many but it is highly recommended detour from the long highway drive.

When going north west on hwy 178, after 7.4 miles from Trona Rd junction with 178, turn south (right) onto BLM Route RM143.  You will see a BLM sign for Trona Pinnacles where you turn off of Highway 178.

A 30 min drive on a 5 miles dirt road that is accessible by all vehicles will take you to the Trona Pinnacles location, you will see the pinnacle from miles away.

You can visit the site for a short time just drive around on the marked trails or you can explore this location with short hikes to viewpoints and even overnight stay.

Because this is a BLM land you can park here and Dispersed camping is allowed for the night (up to 14 days), I assume you will have here amazing star view on cloudless night.
