San Francisco - The Palace Of Fine Arts

Palace of Fine Arts and Marina District

The Palace of Fine Arts building, and surrounding garden is un-expected building to find In modern city but over the years it become one of San Francisco iconic location and famous “Instagram” and wedding picture-taking.

Map of Presidio and Palace of Fine Arts area:

The large Roman-style dome and majestic columns always impress me whenever I visit here, the building with the large pound in front of it is picturesque location and you can see there in the afternoon many wedding photo shots.

In the pond you will always find ducks and other birds.

The Palace of Fine Arts is not a large garden and after short time you will probably continue your visit to nearby locations such as: city’s northern shore, Crissy Field Beach, and the large Presidio Park.

Nearby point of interests:

Marina Green:

Popular waterfront loan covered park with an open view of the bay, Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz.

The Wave Organ:

Located on the far end of the long jetty that protects Marina Yacht Harbor. After passing the Marina District Lighthouse on your way you will reach The Wave Organ. This sculpture features 25 organ pipes where the sound is activated by waves.

Presidio of San Francisco:

Former military post for over 200 years and today the Presidio is a national park and a National Historic Landmark District and a huge city park.

More than five million people visit the Presidio each year, but it does not feel crowded, and you can always find here a place to escape the city, hike or relax.

Fort Mason:

Converted military base into a public garden covering the hill that separates Fisherman’s Wharf from the north beaches.

You can walk from the piers on an open trail that pass through this garden. Not so much to see in the garden itself.

Crissy Field Beach and Field:

Long sandy beach and a Field Marsh, stretch from Marina Yacht Harbor all the way to the Golden Gate base on the west side of the bay.

Here the city noise, neighborhoods and buildings are far away, and you have more open and relaxed vibes near the ocean water.

Presidio Tunnel Tops:

A newly opened garden that covers highway 101 tunnel.

From here you can walk from the north beach area into the huge Presidio old Army Base Camp and Park.
